This involves setting up three buckets and washing your brushes in each on in order. This avoids running a tap for ages and reduces the amount of paint going down your sink. (see a video of the Green Captains using the system below)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Reuse or recycle paint tins\/pots. They can be reused for mixing colour, storage containers, or some supliers will take back old paint tins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Use eco rollers, trays and brushes wherever possible. Bamboo paintbrushes and rollers are now readily available (see <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #008000; text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flints.co.uk\/products\/pioneer-eco-brushes-rollers-an\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" style=\"color: #008000; text-decoration: underline;\">here<\/a> <\/span><\/span>and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flints.co.uk\/products\/lick-brushes-and-rollers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #008000; text-decoration: underline;\">here<\/span><\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Use water-based paints with lowest possible carbon footprint (see links below).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Avoid using chemicals wherever possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 See <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"www.scenicguild.org\">Scenic Art Guild of America<\/a><\/span> on water- and time-effective guidance on cleaning roller sleeves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Swap polystyrene for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flints.co.uk\/product\/All\/PROBPB?proddesc=Composta-Block-850-x-560-x-67-mm&amp;category=eco-textures-and-materials&amp;catdesc=Eco-Textures-and-Materials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Composta Blok<\/span><\/a>: a biodegradable, recyclable, compostable polystyrene alternative.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Use <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flints.co.uk\/product\/All\/PRODEK19?proddesc=Dekozell---Creative-1.9-kg-Bag&amp;category=eco-textures-and-materials&amp;catdesc=Eco-Textures-and-Materials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dekozell<\/a><\/span> for textures &#8211; a by-product of wood fibre production only using wood from sustainable sources.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Use<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flints.co.uk\/product\/All\/PROCORK15?proddesc=Cork-Crumb-5-15mm-12L-Tub&amp;category=eco-textures-and-materials&amp;catdesc=Eco-Textures-and-Materials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> cork crumb<\/a> <\/span>instead of rubber crumb for texturing &#8211; made from waste materials from the production of wine corks!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Swap out real glitter for Flint&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flints.co.uk\/products\/bioglitter---040-hex\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">bio-glitter<\/span><\/a>, made from plant materials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Where possible, use screws\/nails\/tacks to apply canvases or coverings (not glue), so they can be easily removed and both the frame behind and the canvas\/covering can be reused.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Use &#8216;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flints.co.uk\/product\/All\/ADH112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peel<\/a><\/span>&#8216; releasing agent before applying wallpaper to flats so it can be removed at the end of a run, and the original flattage\/frames can be reused (see link below).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Use reusable cable ties when securing or fixing foliage etc.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><strong>Products<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Use natural varnishes, dyes and lacquers, raw oils, petroleum-free wax, PVA adhesives, bio paints with low VOC content, biodegradable or paper-based tapes and chalk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Try eco clay paints (though they can be more expensive). Makers include:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"www.lakelandpaints.co.uk\">Lakeland<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"www.celticsustainables.co.uk\">Celtic Sustainables<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"www.eico.co.uk\">Eico<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022 Try lime-based paints such as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/graphenstone.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Graphenstone<\/a><\/span>.
