Support Us
Theatre Green Book is the leading initiative by and for the performing arts to make every aspect of our work environmentally sustainable. We are an independent, free-to-access UK and international resource and network dedicated to supporting the transition to net zero.
We provide accessible, practical guidance, toolkits and case studies created by theatre makers and sustainability experts on how to shift to a circular economy model, decarbonise and become more sustainable across Productions, Buildings and Operations – all without compromising artistic vision.
We bring together all shapes and sizes of theatres, operas, dance and performing arts organisations and the freelancers that power them to support each other through a network of networks. We provide opportunities for peer learning, knowledge exchange, collaboration and innovation. And we work with arts and culture climate colleagues to advocate for support and change.
Our vision
For the show to go on: theatre and performing arts will be at the forefront of a circular, net zero economy of the future.
We believe in empowering everyone across our industries to understand what they can do, and to do it: one step at a time. We want everyone to be able to use their voice, their expertise and their resources to make the change they want to see. We are independent and led by the sector.
Theatre Green Book is working on three priorities:
1. REACHING MORE ORGANISATIONS and INDIVIDUALS in the UK and internationally: We want to increase and improve our communications activities to make sure that all theatres and performing arts organisations and people working in them hear about Theatre Green Book and can easily find out how to get started.
2. OFFERING MORE TRAINING & SUPPORT: We want to maintain and build on our free training offer including focus groups, webinars, mentoring, in-person events and workshops. These are vital in supporting people to get started and deepen their use of our tools and resources, providing valuable opportunities for knowledge sharing, network building and leadership development.
3. DRIVING CHANGE: We want to continue to engage a small, dedicated, expert core team to lead and co-ordinate our activities and collaborate across the sector. Working closely across the ‘network of networks’ that make up Theatre Green Book across the UK and internationally, they provide the glue that will drive adaptation and sector change. We want to increase our collaboration with partners, influence policy-making, and advocate for investment in green cultural infrastructure and support for a just transition.
Our Needs
Theatre Green Book is powered by volunteers across the performing arts and a small core team.
The work we now do costs £150,000 a year. This includes maintaining and updating the Theatre Green Book guidance and toolkits, offering free support through online and offline workshops, training and events, developing strategic partnerships and programmes, as well as professional fees, access costs, and overheads.
To continue, we need your support.
Are you, your colleagues or your clients using Theatre Green Book?
Do you value the guidance, toolkits, community and advocacy?
Do you recognise its importance to continue?
Please consider donating to Theatre Green Book. We are reliant on regular, annual financial contributions to continue to support innovation and generative change as an independent resource and network.
Whether you are a user of Theatre Green Book, or a corporate working with the performing arts sector, if you would like to discuss donation and sponsorship opportunities, please email Lilli Geissendorfer, Director via admin@staging.theatregreenbook.nl to start a conversation.
